Medical Labels 

When a patient is receiving blood from a donor, healthcare providers may attach a leukocyte filter to the blood administration set.

Leukocyte filters are designed to remove white blood cells from the blood product before it is administered to the patient. This process, known as leukoreduction, helps reduce the risk of adverse reactions, including febrile non-hemolytic transfusion reactions and transfusion-associated graft-versus-host disease (TA-GVHD).
